Customer Reviews
I absolutely love this truck. Except for the stupid suicide style rear doors on the extended cab. If I had to do it over again I would absolutely buy a crew cab with full size doors. Mine is an STX model and it has a lot of the options and features most people need without all the fluff that drives up the price. This is why I say it's an "excellent" value. Comfort is top notch. like I mentioned it's a value based model, and thus I have manual cloth seats. This is not a penalty by any means. I have taken multiple trips that are over 1,000 miles one way, most done in a single day. I have never complained about the comfort level on any of those trips. This is why I give "excellent" for both Comfort and interior designs And the 5.0 engine is amazing. For a 6000 lb brick, this thing is just plain QUICK. It will surprise quite a few other vehicles. This is why I give "excellent" performance rating. Mine is a first year for this engine as well as a few other things and it had some teething issues because of that. At around 25k miles the electronic steering rack set a code in the dash. I never lost power assist, I just had a warning in the dash. The 6spd transmission, while not new for 2011, was still in it's first few years. I have had a few issues with it. One being a failure of the internal wire harness of the trans which caused it to try to take off while in 5th gear. This happened at around 26k miles. I also had an issue where the transmission fluid pump would lose internal pressure while parked for more than a couple days and when first started after a long sit, there would be a delayed gear engagement waiting for the pump to build fluid pressure back up. Now the BIG ONE at around 35-40k miles I started noticing an engine knock. But it was so faint and intermittent that I felt having the dealer look at it would be fruitless, plus I have a 100k warranty so and I had no drivability issues so I let it ride. By 48k miles it was a prominent enough sound that I was able to get the dealer to agree there was a problem. New engine installed. with all of these major problems as well as a very small amount of minor problems (a speaker that failed, and a bad heater blend door actuator) I had to give an "Average" reliability rating. I truly feel that all of these problems are related to being a first year model. As for exterior styling I only gave it a "good" rating. Not because I dislike it. I LOVE the looks of this body style truck. But it came out in 2009 and now that the new body style 2015+ trucks are in their 3rd model year, this 2009-14 body style is definitely looking a bit dated.
